Uniform buying goes wrong at a distance — the fit is a guess and the cloth is a photograph. So there are three shops across the tricity where you can hold it, try it and take it home the same day, and an office behind them where the programmes are specified.

Every shop carries the full size run for the schools around it, with the bags, belts, ties, socks and shoes that go with the set. Bring the child; a size on a chart is not a fit.

Blocks differ between junior and senior, and between the boys' and girls' fit. Five minutes at the counter settles what a size chart cannot.
The collar that has gone limp or the trouser thinned at the knee tells us what the cloth was and what should replace it.
Sizes can be exchanged within a week of purchase. Keep the bill and the tags on.
Dressing a whole school or a whole floor? Start at the office, not the counter.
